FC Platinum have been drawn against African giants in the CAF Champions League group stage in a draw held in Egypt last night.
The Zimbabwe champions were placed in Group B along with Egypt’s Al Ahly Al-Hilal of Sudan and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.
Ahly are record seven-time winners of the competition while du Sahel have won it once.
Although Hilal are yet to win this continental club prestigious cup, they were finalists twice and reached the semis five times.
Only the Zimbabweans are yet to go beyond the group stage in this group.
Pure Platinum have reached this lucrative stage for a second successive year.
They progressed after beating Mozambique’s UD Songo 5-2 on aggregate.
Platinum coach Lizwe Sweswe was aware of what awaits him saying it is a stage where they can meet anyone.
Sweswe has been rotating his players in the domestic league and cup games in a bid to counter fatigue.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Triangle have been drawn against FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania in the second preliminary round of the competition.
The first leg of the tie will be played in Mauritania on October 27 while the return leg has been scheduled for November 3.
The winner will progress through to the group stage.
